Meeting for Worship

The Meeting for Worship is the heart of the Society of Friends. We gather to experience communion with the Spirit. We believe the active expectant silence allows one’s mind to center inwardly. Each person is aided and strengthened by the seeking of others and, since everyone is a participant in this fellowship, worship becomes a corporate experience.

Covid-19 impact

Iowa City Friends Meeting House is currently operating at limited capacity due to the spread of COVID-19. However, Quakers have always known that buildings or “temples” are not needed for worship to occur. All we need is ourselves. To support one another in community and to stay spiritually grounded during this uncertain time, we will convene online meeting for worship via Zoom on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. (CDT). Anyone who would like information about joining in-person worship in our limited capacity meeting house can send us a message.
